It is autually a sudden voilent shaking of ground,due to movement of large section of earth it causes great destruction.
Trick:
You can measure the intensity of the earthquack at your home using just your smartphone android Cellphone. An app is launched named with Vibrometer. You can instal it from your google playstore than after installation open this app and put it on ground this will tell you the current intensity of earthquack. It gives us the values. It contain 4-5 types values. For normal human to great waves (earth Quack).
How its work:
This app uses the phone sensors to measure vibration or the earthquake, and it shows a reference as a seism detector.
The measured values are the Modified Mercalli Intensity scale(MMI), and just for reference. If it is inaccurate, you can calibrate it so that the maximum value is about 10-11.
